Mr. Darcy....*sigh*.. :)

I just saw the new "Pride and Prejudice" movie. It's GREAT! I wasn't expecting much, with Keira Knightly and all, but she wasn't bad atall. I loved Mr. Darcy in this version almost as much as the one where Colin Firth played him. I got all giggly and everything after the movie was over. lol, I had to get Ryan to help me off of my seat because my knees were so weak! :) I don't think that one could really compare this one and the older version though. I couldn't anyways. They're so different, even though it's the same basic story. I definitely want to buy it once it comes out on video. I think Mr. Darcy is my ideal guy, with a few exceptions maybe. :) Toodles!

Wednesday....

Well, this last Tuesday night after our basketball game I spent the night at my Grandparents' house. The next morning I woke up around 7:30 or so and ate breakfast...then started reading a book that my Grandma recommended. Grandma asked me if I wanted to go workout with her, and I said yes. So about 9:00, we set off..Grandma driving. I was a little nervous, but was relieved when only about 5 minutes later we pulled into the place. The place was a Senior's Center. I wasn't really expecting this, but followed Grandma in anyway. We walked inside and there was an elderly lady at the front desk, named...Miss Jan I think. So after Grandma introduced me and everything, we walked into a room where they were playing '80s music and elderly people were doing aerobics while a lady was instructing them. I put my sweater on a chair and walked over to a clear space on the floor, and just started doing what the instructor said. I was a little embarrassed about doing it, but after awhile I got used to it and started having fun with it. After about 30 minutes, we did our exercise with weights. After it was over, Grandma introduced me to all of them, and after giving my name and age several times, we left.

We got back and I read some more, then ate a sandwich with a glass of milk and icecream. :) At 1:50 I think it was, Ryan and I went to his Philosophy class at the U of M. They were discussing a movie called "High Crimes and Misdemeanors". I had never seen the movie, but their views on things were quite interesting. For instance, they think that marriage is no more than words on paper, and that if a marriage isn't going well, the spouses can do whatever they want because they are practically divorced already. After his class we bought some Tigers' tickets for Seth and his family and left for GA. After about 7 1/2 hours we arrived, and went to bed.
So that was my rather interesting day...hope you have a good one!

Singin' and dancing in the rain...

Last night I was in one of my "hyper" moods, and it was also raining....not a good combination. :) It was probably about 8:45 or so, and I was about to get ready for bed, and I was thinking about how I would have to run from the pavilion to the cabin..when it occured to me to not bother about getting wet. I've never really danced in the rain before. Or sang, actually. yes, I sang "Singin' In the Rain", "I Could Have Danced All Night", and probably a few others. If you haven't done it before, I highly recommend it. :)So anyway, that was some of my self-made hyperness showing. Toodles!

Attack of the Ants!

Yesterday, I read a story from my World Literature book. The story was Leiningen Versus the Ants, by Carl Stephenson. This story was a very interesting one about a plantation owner in Brazil, who stood up against an army of ants by using his intelligence. Even though he was pretty intelligent, he and his four hundred peons barely survived the millions of ants seeking to destroy everything in their path. In Leiningen’s first attempt to defeat the ants, he built a sort of “moat” around his plantation and filled it with water from a river nearby. Then he built an “inner moat” which was a smaller ditch lined with concrete, and he emptied into this the inflow pipes from three petrol tanks. Leiningen was sure that even if somehow the ants managed to cross the first ditch, they couldn’t get through the second. They did however, but before they reached the plantation house and barn, Leiningen made a final attempt to obliterate the ants by flooding the entire plantation with the river. Since the house and barn were on high ground, they would be saved. So Leiningen made the dash to the dam, being bitten by ants as he ran. By the time he reached the dam and had fulfilled his mission, the ants covered his body head to toe. As he stumbled his way back to his men, he lost his footing and fell, not having any strength to get up again. His peons reached him and “tore off the ants from a body that seemed almost an open wound”. The men carried their master into the house and informed him that his plan had worked, that the ants were defeated. Leiningen smiled as the nurse applied the medicines, and murmured, “I told you I’d come back, even if I am a bit streamlined”. He then slept peacefully.

This story was quite interesting and I must say I was captivated to the end. I can’t imagine what I’d feel like to know that millions of ants were coming my way, with the single intent to annihilate. Especially being covered in ants! Ick…

Admiration for great actresses..

I can't get over how classy Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, and Julie Andrews are! I recently watched Breakfast At Tiffany's, and Audrey Hepburn is amazing. Although I think that My Fair Lady is my favorite of Audrey Hepburn's, I like all of them. Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief, which I've seen many times, is also a great classic. And who can forget The Sound of Music? You can ask anyone in my family, and they'd probably tell you that the songs from that movie are the ones that I am most frequently singing to. I think that the most classy actors and actresses played in the movies of those times. Sometimes I wish I had lived back then...but then there was the Depression in the 40s.... :) I guess I'll just have to be content with living now, and admiring the actors and actresses of the past.

HEY Y'ALL!!

We finally have internet!!!! And we've moved! And I'm really ready to get moved into our house! And I don't know why I keep saying "And" with an exclamation!

Okay, that was dumb, sorry..:) Anyway I'm really glad to be back. Mostly lately I've been doing school, and trying to finish Sense and Sensiblity so I can read Alice and Wonderland so I can discuss it with Kris at Boot Camp. Oh, and I've decided to delete my blog...so I probably will tomorrow sometime. Adios!
