What do you know?

My Thanksgiving day was spectacular. Not only was the food excellent, but the company and fellowship top notch. We had it on Friday since we were waiting for the rest of the family to arrive, and that night we watched "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" on the projector in the living room. If you haven't seen that movie, you should. I've seen it numerous times, and it still cracks me up. :) Great cast.
On Saturday we geared up to play paintball, and played several games. Out of the three games I played, I got hit twice, both in the first game. I think they were from Ryan, one hit the side of my leg, and the other my neck...it stung. I've got a bruise on my leg as proof. :) That evening we had our traditional Pictionary rivalry game, the Girls vs. the Guys. We girls thought that since we had one so many times before that we would let the guys win for once. So we let them win the first one, and we won the second game. It was a lot of fun. We girls...we can meld our minds together. Guys just don't know how to do that.. :)

Since we don't get TV, we actually didn't watch any football... yeah, shocker, I know.. :) But we still had tons of fun just hanging out together.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well! Cheers!

Oh, look...

Hey everyone, it's THANKSGIVING!! :) The time of year where we gather with our family and friends to eat and watch football... But don't forget what the main purpose of today is, to GIVE THANKS to God for all of His blessings that He's given us even though we are undeserving. So I love you all, and Happy Thanksgiving! :)

1Ch 16:34 "O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever."

"My Dearest Friends"

(This is #95 in the 12th edition of the Old School Hymnal)

We sang this at church yesterday, and it reminded me of what I feel whenever I leave an event where a lot of my friends are gathered, such as a meeting or Harmony Hill.

1. "My dearest friends in bonds of love, Our hearts in sweetest union prove,

Your friendship's like a drawing band, Yet we must take the parting hand.

Your presence sweet, your union dear, Your words delightful to my ear;

And when I see that we must part, You draw like cords around my heart.

2. How sweet the hours have passed away, When we have met to sing and pray;

How loath I've been to leave this place Where Jesus shows His smiling face.

O could I stay with friends so kind, How would it cheer my struggling mind!

But duty makes me understand That we must take the parting hand.

3. And since it is God's holy will, we must be parted for a-while,

In sweet submission all in one, We'll say, Our Father's will be done.

Dear fellow youth in Christian ties, Who seek for mansions in the skies,

Fight on; you'll win the happy shore Where parting hands are known no more.

4. How oft I've seen the flowing tears, And heard you tell your hopes and fears;

Your hearts with love have seemed to flame, Which makes me hope we'll meet again.

Ye mourning souls in sad surprise, Jesue remembers all your cries;

O taste His grace -- in all that land We'll no more take the parting hand."

Just To See You Smile

Smiling is so contagious. Have you ever started smiling for no reason? Then when you looked at someone else, they smiled too. And before you know it, everyone in the room is smiling but nobody knows why. I love it! So smile and think of me... :)

September 11th...

Today, five years ago, the Twin Towers were brought to the ground by a terrorist attack, killing thousands of people. Don't forget to remember when..and to pray for the families of those who died that day. God Bless America!

oh where, oh where, has my little dog gone?

Today while I was sitting on my front porch swing where I do most of my ponderings, I started thinking about expressions and figures of speech, and where did they come from. Some of them aren't that hard to know what they mean. For example, "eat like a horse" or "sleep like a baby". But one that I couldn't figure out was "work like a dog". Because all I've seen dogs do is sleep, eat, and play. So when someone says "work like a dog", shouldn't that mean that they haven't been working hard?

To Be A Knight..

God make you a good man and fail not of beauty. The Round Table was founded in patience, humility, and meekness.Thou art never to do outrageousity, nor murder, and always to flee treason, by no means to be cruel, and always to do ladies, damsels, and gentle women succour. Also, to take no battles in a wrongful quarrel for no law nor for no world's goods.

Thou shouldst be for all ladies and fight for their quarrels, and ever be courteous and never refuse mercy to him that asketh mercy, for a knight that is courteous and kind and gentle has favor in every place. Thou shouldst never hold a lady or gentle woman against her will.

Thou must keep thy word to all and not be feeble of good believeth and faith. Right must be defended against might and distress must be protected. Thou must know good from evil and the vain glory of the world, because great pride and bobauce maketh great sorrow. Should anyone require ye of any quest so that it is not to thy shame, thou shouldst fulfill the desire.

Ever it is a worshipful knights deed to help another worshipful knight when he seeth him a great danger, for ever a worshipful man should loath to see a worshipful man shamed, for it is only he that is of no worship and who faireth with cowardice that shall never show gentleness or no manner of goodness where he seeth a man in any danger, but always a good man will do another man as he would have done to himself.

It should never be said that a small brother has injured or slain another brother. Thou shouldst not fail in these things: charity, abstinence and truth. No knight shall win worship but if he be of worship himself and of good living and that loveth God and dreadeth God then else he geteth no worship here be ever so hardly.

An envious knight shall never win worship for and envious man wants to win worship he shall be dishonoured twice therefore without any, and for this cause all men of worship hate an envious man and will show him no favour.

Do not, nor slay not, anything that will in any way dishonour the fair name of Christian knighthood for only by stainless and honourable lives and not by prowess and courage shall the final goal be reached. Therefore be a good knight and so I pray to God so ye may be, and if ye be of prowess and of worthiness then ye shall be a Knight of the Table Round.

"Your Eyes Tonight" by R.N. Poe

this is an audio post - click to play

Vocals- Ryan, Lydia
Guitar- Ryan

I can't look away from your eyes tonight
They just won't let me go
And I wonder if, in the morning light
They'll still have the same glow

And nobody waits for me
And the city's cold
And the streets are lonely
Makes me feel better
Just to know somebody's there
But when your heart's on the line
You sit and you look
And wait for a sigh

Everyone wants to see
That glitter in the eye

Tell me you love me
Forget what I said
Drive these doubts from my mind
We won't worry about the days ahead
Nor the days left behind

Everyone wants to see
That glitter in the eye (2x)
That glitter in the eye

I GOT IT!!!

Yes, I am now a legal driver. I'm so happy! Okay, so Mom and I got to the place, and we had to wait for this other girl to get through with the computer so I could take it. She missed more than 6, so she failed. This was a little worrying.. So I got on there, clicked the answer to the first question, and the computer messed up. It said something like Sever Error. Anyway, we had to wait about an hour until they got that fixed. Finally, I was able to take it. I finished in 10 minutes, got 2 out of 30 questions wrong...and I passed!! I drove home on the interstate, didn't have any trouble, and it was so much fun!

So anyways, you all can officially be scared now. Lydia's on the road. :)

weeeeell

I suppose I should actually write something for a change...and stop being so lazy about it. :)Okay, well.
So far this Summer's been fantastic. True, the first couple of weeks after school let out were rather dull..but things sped up rapidly after that. Harmony Hill this year was, I believe, the best HH I've had yet. Just tons of good old fun. Unfortunately though, I didn't have a camera handy to take with me then. So..no pics. :(
But then we had Camp Moriah the week after that, and I was able to take pictures, as you see by the earlier posts. Camp was lots of fun as well.

And...then we had Boot Camp..which I just got back from on Thursday night. I did get to bring a camera then, so I should have some pictures up here....whenever I feel like uploading them.
If you want to know all the exciting and mischievous deeds done, you can look here and read the post titled "...Here's To You!..." Good stuff, that.

The only other pretty big thing happening next that I know of is our meeting at Grace Chapel, which you all are invited to, of course. It's going to be July 20-23, and we'll have services Thursday morning through Sunday night. To get details on where you can stay, you can call Sister Judy Guess, our pastor's wife.
So...I'm really really really excited about it. We've been so blessed in the past, and we're praying that God would send the Holy Spirit to us once again. Y'all try to come!

POTC 2!!!!

It's Here!

June is finally here. That month which is the busiest out of the whole summer, for me. I think I'll be home maybe a week this month. Ahh...cookouts, camps, church meetings, swimming, sports, sunburn.. :) All that good stuff is a part of summer. I love it! Well...everything but sunburn. :)

Have a good one!
